Ollie, a roughly 8 month old green cheek conure, was lost due to a terrible mistake on my part where I took him outside without a harness since I had put too much faith in the idea that he would not fly away. After just a couple minutes of being outside Ollie got spooked by a bird flying overhead and took off. My family and I searched frantically for him but could not find any sign of him so I posted on social media like Facebook and Tumblr, Kijiji, and missing parrot sites where I got a ton of support which I will always be very grateful for! The next day, my family and I put up a bunch of missing bird posters and we walked around calling Ollie's name around the neighbourhood but we still did not find him. On the third day, we walked around the neighbourhood again but this time we brought Ollie's toy which had a loud bell on it but we still no luck. However, later that day a person on Kijiji and my father both suggested checking with the local Humane society where we found out that Ollie was brought in there the day before by a kind person whom Ollie had landed on. My family and I went there right away where I was happily reunited with Ollie who was perfectly fine other than missing a small patch of feather near his cere!
