How's this for AMAZING?! This African Grey Parrot went missing from her Coquitlam family at the end of May 2014. Her owner prayed daily that she would be returned to them, but with no sightings, it seemed a slim hope.

Last week a family in Surrey returned home to find an African Grey Parrot had alit upon a religious statue in their backyard and refused to leave. A passerby offered to buy the bird for $1000.00 cash but the family was honest, and instead brought the bird into SARC. The staff took photos of the bird and tried to examine it, but the bird refused to let itself be handled by anyone other than the finder. We suggested they hold onto the bird so it would get lots of attention and handling while we tried to find the owner and we posted it on our Facebook page.

The owner from Coquitlam got very excited when she saw our post as she felt strongly that it was her bird. The staff at SARC facilitated a meeting between the finder and the possible owners on the shelter premises for everyone's safety. When the finders brought the cage into the shelter, the same bird that wouldn't let SARC staff touch her flew out of the cage and into the arms of what turned out to be her owner!

After almost 3 months on the lam, Chilli the African Grey was reunited with her joyfyul owners ... was it divine intervention?? Thanks to prayer, honesty and proactive SARC staff, Chilli is home. We LOVE facilitating happy endings here at the Surrey ARC and this is a GREAT way to round off the week!
